“Blue will be big!” says Rachael “as it is still one of the most popular colour choices in our homes today”. And she advises: “Choose to use it as an accent colour in an otherwise neutral scheme. Or for a more dramatic effect use different tones of blue, from dramatic midnight to aquamarine to create a bold and glamorous scheme”.

Geometric Designs

“I predict a lot of geometric designs this season, too” says Rachael, My Interior Design School’s Design Director.

“Look out for herringbone, lines and dots. To embrace this interiors trend, you could add a seasonal cushion or a cosy throw in one of these designs to add a stylish element to your Christmas decorating this year”

Prefer a more natural and contemporary look? Don’t forget to add plenty of seasonal greenery and textured accessories to give warmth to your scheme.

Let there be light – as long as it’s a warm white!

“Don’t forget the importance of good lighting in your seasonal decorating” says Rachael. “This year I predict a decline of cold white LED fairy lights and instead a move towards warm white for a cosy more natural feel.

To make a strong style statement, use candles and festive lights in abundance to make ‘groups’ and give your room the ‘wow’ factor!

Look out too for illuminated Christmas ornaments, which are on trend this season.

“And of course have fun with your Christmas styling. It’s the time of year I love because you can really ‘go for it’ with your décor ideas, knowing it’s just for few weeks!”
