Karen joined us at our Design Week recently and loved her 5 days learning new interior design skills and unleashing her creativity.
“What a week! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it”
Colour in the Home
Here is Karen at the end of day one of our Design Week, showing off her new skills with colour!
Creating a colour mood board is just one of the practical tasks you will do during this fabulous day immersing yourself learning about colour in the home.
At the end of your first day, you will have mastered how to use a colour wheel, which colours work best in different rooms, how to make a room appear bigger or smaller and the secrets to designing with colour, aspect and psychology in mind.

Karen and the other students at Design Week also learned how to run a design project, where to start and how to pull an interiors scheme together. The week is suitable for complete beginners, with no previous experience or training, but with a passion for interior design and learning new skills.

Learning new skills can sometimes feel daunting, but here Karen proves that sometimes being out of your comfort zone, can be really rewarding. Karen’s stylish bedroom scheme board, scaled floor plans and elevations show that you really can ‘discover the designer in you’ at our workshops!

Make New Friends
Making friends can be an added bonus to enrolling on our Design Week!
Naomi, Karen, Magda, Sarah, Jenny and Charlotte have all stayed in touch since the course and have been meeting up at trade fairs and design events in London.

Karen’s decision to join us at our 5-day Diploma course in Cheltenham seems to have paid off. She now has the skills and confidence to tackle projects for others.
We caught up with her recently to see how her life has changed since the course.
“I’ve definitely been inspired since Design Week. I’ve been asked to help several friends with projects, so I will start to build my portfolio and go from there!”
Karen also learned new business skills at Design Week.
How To Run Your Own Interiors Business
On the Friday, students join our Course Director, Anne learning how to run an interiors business. So by the end of the week, you’ll have all the design skills, the know-how and the confidence to make money from your creativity, find clients and know what to charge.

Karen with her business vision board
Karen’s been busy completing a project in her own home, turning what she describes as her ‘dumping room’ into an ‘event’ bathroom!

There are other design projects in the pipeline for Karen, including a new study and a loft-space bedroom.
We can’t wait to see photos of those design schemes and wish her all the best designing for lots of happy clients.
