Colour in the Home
To whet your appetite, here is a brief overview of the Colour in the Home course. You will learn about the basics of colour theory and have an introduction to interior design. The day ends with you creating your own mood and colour board. This interior decorating course covers:

One Year City & Guilds Course (Part Time)
This course results in the Level 2 and Level 3 City & Guilds Certificate in Creative Techniques – Interiors (7112/7113) qualification. It is a year of study for each module and is a challenging, comprehensive programme for anyone who wants to make a career in interior design. A prior interest in or experience of interior design is desirable.
The course includes workshop days inside the design studio and encouragement is always present to push your creativity beyond the norm! Sampling days are essential. These sessions allow the student to experiment with texture, colour, and materials to broaden experience. There are seminar days where tutors will teach essential design subjects and tutorials. There is also regular one to one assessment throughout the course so the student stays on track. Educational visits to seminars, design shows, and workshops are encouraged to broaden the student’s knowledge.
Interior Design Week
City & Guilds accredit our one-week interior decorating course, which means you will have a recognised qualification to go forward with. This course is ideal for those who want a hands on practical approach to the subject of interior design. The course guides you through each step of the key elements where the student will work on two design projects. These projects include the client’s brief, drawing to scale, colour, scheme boards, and site surveys.
As this is an intensive course numbers are limited to ten people with a highly experienced interior design professional who will deliver the course to the highest standards.
Distance Learning City & Guilds
For those students whose commitments and location mean they cannot attend the courses on site, there is a fully-fledged online distance-learning interior decorating course. Our distance-learning course is the UK’s only accredited City & Guilds home study interior design course.
A personal tutor is allocated and will guide you through the eight-module course, which is easy to understand, and has a visual library to access photographs and examples. The course includes:
- Lighting design
- Paint, floor and wall coverings
- Two design projects
- Drawing (scaled floor plans and elevations)
- Scheme boards
