Will You Be Watching?
We are very excited about the new BBC2 TV show ‘Interior Design Masters’. This 8 part series starts on Wednesday 14th August at 8pm and promises to be a must-see if you are passionate about interior design.
Presented by self-confessed interiors fan Fearne Cotton and the former editor of Elle Decoration Michelle Ogundehin as the series judge, each episode will see up-and-coming designers competing to win a contract to work at one of the top hotels in London.
Contestants will work on commercial design challenges including show homes, restaurants and hair salons.
To help Michelle make the difficult decision of who goes through to the next round will be a different guest judge each week, including Mary Portas, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Jade Jagger. They’ll be on hand to give their opinions and expertise until a finalist is chosen to win the life-changing prize of a design contract.
“I knew it would be a corker of a show” says Fearne who was really inspired by some of the contestant’s colour schemes.
Michelle was impressed by the standard of the designs she saw and thinks the show proves that design is not easy! As the series judge, she was looking for how the contestants dealt with clients, did they listen to the brief and whether the contestant was able to “give a client what they didn’t know they wanted”!
As our courses and workshops teach students all the skills and techniques the contestants would need to be successful interior designers, we will be watching with interest.
