My Interior Design School is running the very popular Interior Design Week again for 2012. The action packed five-day course is being held in July from Monday 9th July to Friday 13th July in the wonderful Regency town of Cheltenham Spa. The town boasts beautiful architecture and some inspiring interiors. In this environment, you can learn about the wonderful world of interior design.
The venue of the course is Cheltenham Ladies College the famous girl’s school, which has a long history and is on the site of the original Cheltenham spa mineral spring. This building steeped in history makes a wonderful environment for learning and features some historical design techniques that will be of interest.
This week long course would be ideal for overseas visitors to enjoy a holiday in a historical part of England and to meet friends and learn about interior design, while getting to know the delights of Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.
Students are permitted to take the course if they are fourteen years old and over so this course is ideal for younger students who may be at the stage of considering career options before making their final exam choices. Ideal for groups of friends or individuals, this course if friendly informative and taught by expert tutors.
This course is aimed at students, who are interested in exploring and understanding the process of interior design for their own use to improve their living or working environment or as an investigation into interior design as a career option. The course is accredited By City and Guilds the prestigious internationally recognised awarding body and students would achieve Level 1 City & Guilds Award in Creative Techniques – Interiors (7111) at the end of the week.
The Interior Design Week course is practical and very hands on with students working together in small groups and individually on actual interior design briefs and projects from initial inspiration, sourcing fabrics, and materials through to the final production of fully-fledged scheme boards.
The exciting topics covered in the course include:
– Bedroom design
– Drawing to scale
– Understanding colour theory
– Designing with pattern and texture
– Wall and floor-coverings
– Accessories and their impact
– Clever ways with storage
– Artwork and top-tips on presentation
– Creating a scheme board to take home
The course takes place in the art studios at The Cheltenham Ladies’ College and includes a two-course lunch, refreshments each day and materials.
Rich in content, this course is a valuable introduction to the subject of interior design. The practical scheme board can be used toward your own interior design portfolio, which may be of use to future employers, as part of exam course work or to aid applications into university or college.
